What does the word ‘care,’ as in homecare, mean? Does it define caregiving as a place where sincerity, dedication, and attentiveness are noticed? If so, by whom or by what surveys does ‘care’ become noticed as an acceptable definition? Perhaps the word ‘care’ has little meaning other than as a useful advertising embellishment. Caring may also reflect being raised with a caring influence.
Our view of the word ‘care’ describes routinely performed acts of unexpected kindness. We know it can be taught because we teach it.
AHA associates are taught to be aware of opportunities to promote ‘acts of kindness’ as being essential to the wellness of a client’s body and spirit. It is a routine part of a more pleasant environment. Toward that goal, we use a proprietary list of examples of ‘acts of kindness’ as a teaching tool.
